Our responsibility

Kids look up to adults. They see us as their role models whether we like it or not.

It will be such a shame if we acted inappropriately infront of them because they will tend to imitate us in the longrun.
So it is high time that we realise that it is our responsibility to not just set a good example but also to mould these young impressionable minds with all things positive and good.
A lot of cynics out there will of course say it's a hopeless task to educate the young but I think it is possible!

As adults we have the opportunity to build self-confidence in these young individuals. Many youngsters have a low self-esteem and this will inadvertently affect their lives.
Some adults do not realise the impact of their harsh words on the young.

One wrong word might have a devastating impact on a young individual with no self-esteem who may not have the opportunity to come from a loving and supportive family.
We must be careful with the way we label a person. Labels such as "smart, hardworking, brainy" have a positive effect on anyone but if we start to label others as "stupid, lazy, hopeless" , anyone might even begin to believe that they are as such.

However if these youngsters get a lot of positive reinforcement, this will build their self-esteem. When they feel good about themselves, they will be more motivated to do more than what is expected of them. The young are the future leaders of the world as cliche-ish as it may sound. The young has so much potential in them.
They have the potential to become good, hardworking, brilliant and successful !! Can you just imagine what great things they can do with their lives if they are confident and happy ??
So isn't it a shame if all this potential was wasted on drugs and other useless activities?

In a nutshell, we must be more careful in what we say to others because for some, it might have a long-term effect that will stay with them for most of their adult lives.
